Fellowship Hall is a total loss
Emotions were high and many members were deeply hurt when they heard that the fellowship hall had collapsed.
UPDATE: April 10th, 2011 - Over the past few months many churches, individuals and other organizations have come forward asking "What can we do to help?" Unfortunately the answer remains that we just don't know the answer to that question yet. Until the insurance company decides how our claim is going to be settled we just do not know what help to ask for.
We have set up a Recovery Fund to help with expenses that are not covered by insurance.

UPDATE: March 15th - we finally have the clearance required to begin demolition. Unfortunatly we are being required to demolish the entire building including the basement wall and slab because of asbestos contamination. We still ask for your prayers and we do appreciate all of the concern and well wishes. God is good.
February 7, 2011 - In the very early morning hours of February 7, 2011 our fellowship building was crushed into rubble under the extreme weight of accumulated snow. We are very grateful to God that no one was in the building when this occurred and that our main brick building which contains our sanctuary remains intact.
The fellowship hall was the original sanctuary building and over the years and has been home to many weddings and funerals as well as church fellowship dinners, wedding receptions, anniversaries, and American Baptist Men and other Regional meetings. The Hillview Coffeehouse, which is one of our main sources of support for the Baldwinsville Food Pantry has been held in the fellowship hall for many years.
This Fall Hillview Community Church will celebrate our 50th anniversary and we trust that God will bring us through this trial as a much stronger and more cohesive congregation that is ready to set the direction for the next 50 years of fruitful ministry.
All activities that were planned for the fellowship building will be moved to our main church building. For now we will just be a little crowded - but we do not intent to 'skip a beat' - our ministry will continue.
